A powerful electric storm rocked Sydney, resulting in flooding and transportation mayhem.
Greater Sydney and other parts of New South Wales were struck by an overpowering hurricane, which caused significant flooding in the town center, pandemonium among tourists, and the cancellation of an A-League women's match.

Soon after 8 p.m., the typhoon struck Sydney's western suburbs before moving into the central business district and flooding the concourse of Town Hall station, further affecting the already severely damaged rail services due to the day's commercial activity.

“Sydney Trains is forecasting another heavily degraded day on the network from early Thursday,” the statement said, “whilst passengers will again face lengthy delays, service cancellations and large service gaps as a result of over 350 bans which have been notified.”
“Passengers should also be conscious that tonight`s wild storms have triggered trees to fall on overhead wiring at Normanhurst and Bell, and triggered power outages at Lidcombe, Cabramatta and Flemington, more than one signal/music disasters at Shellharbour Junction and flooding at Town Hall, that have all had numerous affects to services.”
Flood waters in Pyrmont had also severely damaged roads, obstructing lanes at the Western Distributor.
Strong winds posed a threat as well; at Sydney Airport, a gust of 100 km/h was reported.
Lightning forced Sydney FC's A-League Women's team to abandon their match against Canberra United at Leichhardt Oval, losing 2-0.
Due to lightning in the neighborhood, the recreation was suspended for the fifty-fifth minute during bad weather, and less than an hour later it was completely abandoned.
Additional damage was later caused by the typhoon in the Hunter region, when a gust of 120 km/h was reported in Williamtown.
